Hip Hop’s Positive Influence on Society

While many critics blame hip hop for its negative impact on society, it’s important to note that it has some positive aspects, too. Though the genre is fun, its lyrics can often speak volumes about many aspects of our society. And for young people in our society, hip hop is a great way to stay informed and entertained during rough times. Even if it does cause a lot of problems, these influences can help them get through tough times.

Despite these problems, hip hop continues to grow in popularity and is now the most popular genre of music on the internet. In the US alone, it has surpassed rock as the most popular genre of music. But hip hop has a reputation for spreading more than just a message. It has also caused controversy, with rapper Lawrence ‘Kris’ Parker (aka KRS-One) sparking a massive uproar by saying that African Americans cheered on 9-11.

Many experts believe that hip hop’s negative impact on society can be traced to its rap lyrics. Rap lyrics are known to promote inappropriate sexual behavior. This may lead to teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and future victimization. Moreover, large corporations are producing images that will sell. In 2005, nearly half of all HIV/AIDS diagnoses were made in black people, a minority of just 13 percent of the population.
